Characters in the adventure

Padre: This is Dad. He’s the hero of our family. He is my most trusted sounding board and coach. He determined to know his kids and for his kids to know him since we were little. And we do! While he doesn’t do it full-time just yet, he’s a philosopher and preacher at heart. He laughs hard, plays hard, and works hard. Every one of us kids can say that we would not be who we are today without him. Now, my mom had alot to do with it too, but I haven’t started describing her yet…hang on! Checkout his blog at www.lordofthecastle.com.

Mother Dearest: My sweet mom. Oh, how I love her! She is quite possibly the most fun human being I know. She constantly keeps us all in uproarious laughter…especially my dad. Polar opposite from Padre, Mother Dearest is an extrovert to the core. Not much phases her or bothers her. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her worry! She’s radical in her faith, her worship, and her love. Oh, and she has curly hair…no, I mean REALLY curly hair! Padre loves it. So do I.

Kimberlina: The sister right after me (I’m the oldest). Since we were kids, she’s been my “balance”. Like Mother Dearest, she’s not phased by much. She’s confident, bold, and genuinely loves people. She laughs hard like Padre. She is fearless and probably one of the best people to talk to until 5am. Some of our best memories: singing Sarah Brightman at the top of our lungs in our grandparents’ car back in 2000.

Anson Garçon: First, imagine this nickname in a very French accent. Makes all the difference! He has a brain for math and science. Might explain why he’s at Drexel University studying Business & Engineering. He’s a wrestling prodigy to boot. Ladies, you’ll have to be one amazing woman to get this man’s attention – he’s amazing!

Cakes: The youngest girl in our family, and pretty much Mother Dearest’s clone. She too has a magnificent mane of blonde curls. Her singing gives you chills. Her smile lights up the room. Social as she is, she works really hard and kicks tail at school! She has oodles of spunk, much to the liking of my brother who grew up with all girls in the house.

Lovey: She’s the best friend I didn’t expect to have in Texas. Her accent won me over when we met back in ’08 (she’s born-and-raised Texarkana girl), and her funness (is that a word?), heart for God, and loyalty have won it since. Photographer extraordinaire, she’s naturally creative (more than she gives herself credit for) and fun as all get out! Ask anyone: her facial expressions are priceless! She’s dating Juanie (really his name is Jonathan, but I rarely call him that), musician and political mastermind. We’ve been roommates for coming up on two years now – it’s better than I could’ve hoped!

Layn: This woman is my kindred spirit, to quote Anne Shirley. We met back in California years ago working on costumes for our then-church’s creative production. We’ve grown to be best friends since then. Funny, we’ve never lived in the same place since California back-in-the-day, but it doesn’t feel like it. We pick up the phone (inevitably talking for hours!) and are right where we left off. She’s a stunning blonde with passion for the Lord (um..the girl can PRAY!), people, and the arts – she’s a continual encouragement and beloved friend. Can’t wait to see what’s around the bend, Layn!

The Crew: My wonderful Dallas friends. We laugh together. We cry together. We have fun together. We just do life together. Wouldn’t have it any other way!

Neighborville: Those members of The Crew who just so happen to live down the street. Makes life so much fun to have ‘em so close!
